Hi! I’m Katie Gentile,
Licensed Professional Counselor in Pennsylvania and California
Board Certified Art Therapist
Welcome, I am so glad that you are here!
I recognize that it can feel difficult to take the first step on your therapeutic journey. It is my honor to listen, support, and walk the path with you. I believe reaching out for help is the bravest thing that you can do.
My therapeutic style is compassionate, honest, and comforting. I consider myself a general talk therapist as well as an art therapist. I spend time getting to know you and exploring what therapeutic interventions are most appropriate for your care. Together we will discover what techniques work best for your growth, emotional processing, and goals in session so you feel you are truly benefitting from therapy.
An Individualized Tailored Care Approach
I believe each client should be treated uniquely and individually based on their needs. Creating coping skills that align with your interests and learning style makes for truly impactful strategies. Whether you’re working toward an overarching goal or something specific comes up that week, nothing is off limits to process in session. This is your space, I will meet you wherever you might be each and every session.
Background and Experience
I have had the drive and passion to help people for as long as I can remember. Being able to do it everyday fuels me. For over 5 years I have practiced mental health counseling in a private practice setting. It has been my pleasure to work with people from a myriad of different backgrounds, ages, and needs. I have had extensive exposure and training in working with individuals facing challenges with anxiety, depression, life transitions, relationship challenges (both friendships and romantic), body image challenges, school stress, work stress, emotional regulation, and more.
Prior to outpatient work, I practiced at an adult medical facility, as well as at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, where I supported the mental wellbeing of patients and families experiencing life changing diagnoses.
Creative Art Therapy!
Along with my degree in Mental Health Counseling, I also have my degree and credentialing in Art Therapy. Incorporating a creative lens offers a new and exciting approach to traditional therapy. We can incorporate art interventions into your session to support expression, processing, and coping skills. However, if art isn’t for you, we don’t have to incorporate it. I have experience in practicing art therapy for individuals from all ages, and ran art therapy groups for children, teens, and adults in intensive outpatient setting.
